Meet our Managing Director

Tim Spencer

Hello. My name is Tim Spencer, The Later Life Lending Expert and the Managing Director of Optimus Mortgages. I help people live a better retirement through bespoke later-life lending, and I believe that financial solutions should be made simple for everyone.

I started working in the financial services industry in the 1990s but soon fell out of love with the corporate world. I set up Optimus Mortgages Ltd in 2016 as I am passionate about helping people, just like you, understand what lending options are available, but without all of the high pressure sales techniques and targets. When I turn up to see clients, I won't be wearing a sharp suit, or using a flash laptop. I use a pen and paper, and look at having a relaxed chat. I like to build up long-term working relationships with my clients, and most of my clients have been referred to me by their friends, family or colleagues who I have previously helped.

I am based in beautiful County Durham, and as well as looking after clients locally, I also have clients all over the country. When I am not looking after my clients, you will probably find me walking my English Springer Spaniel, Noodles. I have a son, Henry, who is studying Mathematics at Durham University, and a daughter, Millie, who has just started her A-Levels and is looking at studying Criminology. We will get to know each other more as we work together through our chats.

I like to sleep at night knowing our clients are happy, so here are my promises to you:

  • We will explore all the alternatives to any finance with you

  • We won't charge you a penny for our time if you don't take any finance we recommend

  • We will only recommend you take finance where it is in your best interest to do so

To arrange your consultation, complete the online form, or call us on 0191 3719271.

Tim in the spotlight

My proudest moment as an adviser

"Starting and growing Optimus Mortgages. It had been my ambition to run my own company for a number of years, so taking the leap of faith is something I will always be proud of."
